This October, we are thrilled to host the 12th annual Fall Fashion Gala<\/strong>; an extraordinary evening to benefit the company where the worlds of ballet and high fashion converge in a celebration of creativity, elegance, and artistic excellence. Taking place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025<\/strong>, this much-anticipated tradition is a highlight of the company\u2019s fall performances and an opportunity to witness groundbreaking new choreography and visionary collaborations between choreographers and designers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gala program will feature a world premiere by distinguished choreographer Jamar Roberts<\/strong> with costumes by acclaimed fashion designer Iris van Herpen<\/strong>. This premiere will mark Roberts\u2019 third work for the company, and van Herpen\u2019s second time presenting costume designs at the Fall Fashion Gala. Gianna Reisen<\/strong>\u2019s <\/strong>Composer\u2019s Holiday <\/em>will make a return to the Fall Fashion Gala stage, bringing refreshing vivacity with fleet-footed choreography set to a violin and piano interpretation of Lukas Foss\u2019s Three American Pieces <\/em>and costumes designed by Virgil Abloh of Off-White\u2122. The program will also spotlight a company favorite – William Forsythe<\/strong>\u2019s striking and inventive Herman Schmerman Pas de Deux<\/em>, paired with an electronic score by his long-time collaborator Thom Willems and costumes by Gianni Versace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening will begin at 5:30 PM with a cocktail reception hosted by Ruinart Champagne<\/strong>, followed by the performance at 7 PM, and will conclude with an elegant night of dinner and dancing on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater with company artists in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, held at the Lincoln Center, has become a significant cultural tradition in Manhattan, coinciding with the arrival of crisp autumn air. The Fall Gala serves as a platform for both classical and contemporary styles, showcasing new choreographies and reimagined classics, elevating the timeless art of ballet into a 21st-century spectacle.\\n\\nOne of the most iconic performances in the Fall Gala’s history is George Balanchine’s \\\u00a0\u00bbTheme and Variations,\\\u00a0\u00bb a plotless piece set to Tschaikovsky’s Orchestral Suite No. 3. Balanchine’s choreography, inspired by the great period of Russian ballet, demanded unparalleled technical brilliance from dancers, challenging them to let the music’s notes dance instead of resorting to dramatic storytelling. The ballet, which has been a repertory mainstay since its debut in 1947, was described by dance critic Walter Terry as \\\u00a0\u00bbthe greatest classical ballet of our time\\\u00a0\u00bb.\\n\\nAnother notable performance is Jerome Robbins’ \\\u00a0\u00bbGlass Pieces,\\\u00a0\u00bb which premiered in 1983 and was the first ballet created for New York City Ballet set to the music of American composer Philip Glass. The ballet, often interpreted as a portrait of a city, features an abstract narrative set to Glass’s repetitive structures, capturing the feeling of driving, pulsing undercurrents found in New York City.\\n\\nBeyond its artistic significance, the Fall Gala is a vital fundraiser, contributing to the ongoing vitality and innovation of the New York City Ballet. The event’s timeless appeal, rooted in both historical and contemporary performances, ensures its status as a highlight of the cultural calendar, transcending the stage and capturing the magic and dynamism that defines New York City.\n\n\n\n
